What is brown butter? Brown butter is the upgraded, fancy version of regular butter. Butter is slowly melted over low heat until it starts foaming and brown bits of caramelized milk solids fall to the bottom of the pan. The result is a nutty, slightly sweet butter with a more intense flavor.

This recipe has only a handful of ingredients, but brown butter really improves the flavor. Combine that with sauteed garlic and honey. All pinkies up on this one. This one is a favorite in our house.

Honey Glazed Carrots Ingredients

Carrots: You can use baby carrots, whole carrots chopped into equal pieces, or carrot coins. Just be mindful that the bigger they are, the longer it takes to steam them.

Butter: Browning your butter takes this side dish to the next level. Can you make it without browning the butter? Of course! But it only takes a couple more minutes to brown the butter. So it’s worth it, trust me.

Garlic and honey: These ride second fiddle to the flavor of the brown butter. The garlic compliments the taste of the butter. The honey gives it a bit of sweetness.

Parsley: This ingredient adds a pop of color and freshness. You can also use 1 teaspoon of dried parsley.

Recipe F.A.Q.

Can you use salted butter?

Using salted butter may make the dish a little too salty. If you use salted butter, only salt to taste after all ingredients are added.

Can you use any other herbs besides parsley?

Yes. Either thyme, mint, dill, or cinnamon could work. Just start with ½ teaspoon and season to taste.
